freqently asked questions
Q Are timber shutters easy to clean ?
A Yes. A feather duster is sufficient if done regularly, otherwise a damp soapy cloth will be fine.

Q Do Malibu shutters come with a warranty ?
A Yes. Your shutters are the perfect advertisement for our company. If you have a problem we will be happy to address it. We give a 5 year warranty on all moving parts, including tracking. Conditions apply.

Q Why do you only use Western Red Cedar ?
A Western Red Cedar (WRC) is a plantation timber from North America. We use this timber because it is light, has great insulating properties, remains stable (doesn't warp) and is knot-free.

Q I my shutters will be painted a solid colour, do you still use Western Red Cedar ?
A Yes. All of our shutters are produced from Western Red Cedar. Although the attractive grain of this timber will not be visible under a solid finish, the timber possesses many other valuable properties including lightweight, strength etc.

Q What sort of Lacquer do you use ?
A The lacquer we use has been specifically developed for timber shutters and has superior UV qualities.

Q Does you price include installation ?
A Yes. Malibu timber shutters are installed by full-time staff. We do not employ part-time tradesmen or subcontractors.

Q Will my shutters fade in the sun ?
A If you choose a solid colour finish your shutters will remain as new for many years. Should you choose a natural timber / clear lacquer finish and your shutters are subjected to all-day exposure, your shutters my fade. There is no clear lacquer available capable of preventing this.

Q Do you make your shutters ?
A Yes. Shutters are our business. We measure, quote, fashion, finish and install your shutters without employing outside resources. Our factory is located at 75 Dover Drive, Burleigh Heads, and you are very welcome to come and visit the showroom.

Q Will my shutters require maintenance ?
A No. All joints are doweled and glued. The 'shutter pins' used are high quality imported Teflon. The staples used to connect the blades to the 'tilt bar' are made of stainless steel. This means that all components are strong and durable, coming together to form a shutter panel that is requires no maintenance. Periodic dusting is recommended.
